The inbox

One address. Give someone /me/your-name. A person you trust lands in the inbox. Someone new waits in the lobby until you let them in.

Claim it

  1. 01Log in and open Inbox, or go to /me.
  2. 02Choose a handle. The address is /me/your-name.
  3. 03Give that URL to the person who has the file.

What the sender does

They open your address and drop the files. A forward does not upload the file again. It writes a new delivery of the same file.

The lobby

The first file from someone new waits in the lobby. Let them in, and this file plus the next ones from them go to the inbox. Refuse, and that file is burned when you are the only person holding it. Their next send stops at the door.

Labels, spam, delete, burn

  • A label is a word you type, such as Work, Marketing, or Accounting. Search knows that word.
  • Spam files the drop and sends their next file straight to spam. Hold spam is on by default. While it is on, that file stays out of Inbox, Archive, labels, and the Finder folders. Turn it off on the account page if you want spam filed with the rest.
  • Delete removes it from your view. If someone else still has it, the bytes stay until they expire.
  • Burn destroys the file. You can burn it when you sent it, or when you are the only person still holding it.
  • Forward writes a new delivery to another /me/ handle. The file is not uploaded again.
  • Archive takes it out of the inbox and keeps it until it expires. It is not a burn.
  • Sent is everything you delivered. Drafts are drops you saved and have not sent.
  • Sort by newest, by sender, or by label. A label in the sidebar shows every inbox and archived file with that word.
  • An agent with your key can send to the same address. The inbox does not care if the sender was a person or a script.
