Getting started

Three moves. Then it’s there.

  1. 01

    Download

Open the zip. Inside is Pink Jeepney.command. That is the one to open.

  2. 02

    Open

macOS will say it could not verify the file. Click Done. Then System Settings, Privacy & Security, and Open Anyway.

  3. 03

Use the email and password from pinkjeepney.com. Finder opens the Pink Jeepney folder in your home folder.

Folders

The same piles, on the desk.

  1. InboxFiles you let in.
  2. LobbyA new sender waits.
  3. SentWhat you handed over.
  4. DraftsNot ready to leave.
  5. ArchiveOut of the way.

Spam stays out of these folders while Hold spam is on. The switch is in Account. It is on unless you turn it off.

Opening a file

It downloads.

Double-click a file in Finder. Pink Jeepney fetches it. The file opens like any other file on this Mac.

Dropping a file

It does not send.

This beta is read-only. A file you drop into Inbox, Sent, or anywhere else stays put. It does not go out as a transfer.

FAQ

Before you ask twice.

Where does it show up?

Finder opens your home folder, Pink Jeepney. Inside are Inbox, Lobby, Sent, Drafts, and Archive. The files fill in after the window is open.

What if macOS will not open it?

Click Done on that message. Open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, and click Open Anyway next to Pink Jeepney.command. Confirm Open. A Terminal window appears, then the sign-in. It does not need Rosetta. If an older copy says it is damaged, move that one to the Trash. That copy cannot be opened.

Do I need Xcode or a developer account?

No. Download the app, open it, and sign in. There is no project to run and no terminal.

Which Macs?

macOS 14 or newer.

Can I drop a file in to send it?

Not in this beta. Opening a file downloads it. Putting a file into a folder does not send it.

Does spam land in Finder?

Not while Hold spam is on. That is the default. Held mail stays on the website, in the Spam pile, until you turn the switch off in Account.

Which plan do I need?

Any plan. Sign in with the same email and password as the site.

Does the app keep my password?

No. It asks once, then keeps a sign-in for this Mac. The next time you open Pink Jeepney, Finder gets the inbox without asking again.

How do I take it off this Mac?

Eject Pink Jeepney in Finder. Move the app out of Applications. To forget the sign-in, delete the Pink Jeepney folder in Library, then Application Support.
