What is file transfer
Moving a file from one person to another, then stopping.

File transfer is the unfashionable verb. You have a file. Someone else needs it. Then you should stop being involved.
The distinction that matters
Email tried to be this and choked on the size. Cloud drives tried to be this and became closets. A transfer is the version with a ticket: the file moves, the link expires, nobody gains a roommate.
If you can still edit it together next month, you did not transfer it. You shared a workspace. Both are fine. They are not the same errand.
