What is cloud file transfer
Your file takes a brief nap on someone else’s disk, then leaves.

Cloud transfer means the file is uploaded to a server so the other person can download it later. You do not both have to be online.
The distinction that matters
That nap is the trade. Convenience, in exchange for a copy existing somewhere for a while. Expiry and burn are how you make the nap short. End-to-end encryption is how you make the nap unreadable. Peer-to-peer is how you skip the nap, and also how you discover your laptop went to sleep.
