Dropbox vs file transfer services
Dropbox is the building. A transfer is the driveway.

Dropbox wants your files to live there, sync there, and be the system of record. Dropbox Transfer is the driveway they added so you can occasionally just hand something over.
The distinction that matters
Use Dropbox when the team works in the folder. Use a transfer service when the folder would be a strange place for this particular client to live. Pink Jeepney is that second errand, without asking you to rent the building.

In one table
| Dropbox | A transfer | |
|---|---|---|
| Job | Be the system of record | Hand over one thing |
| Afterwards | The folder remains | The link expires |
| Client | Now has a room in your building | Has a download |
