How does Hightail work
Hightail, explained as a booth with a policy, not as a miracle.

There is no trick. You upload a file. You get a link. You send the link the way you already talk to the person. Everything people argue about is policy.
What Hightail decided
Hightail used to be YouSendIt. It grew sideways into creative review: comments on the work, not just a download.
The mechanism is fine. The product is the afterwards.
The free send is modest and easy to outgrow. This is not the tool you open for a one-off ZIP.
You pay for a workspace where a client can mark up a cut or a layout.
The policy, not the magic
| Hightail | |
|---|---|
| Free size | Modest |
| Free expiry | Short |
| Account to send | Yes, for the real product |
| Password | Paid |
| The top end | A review room, not a bigger truck |
Why you would like it, and why you might not
Review in the same place as delivery is genuinely useful for a studio that lives in rounds.
If you only needed the file to arrive, you bought a conference room to mail a letter.
If you dislike the policy, a smoother upload will not save you. The mechanism has been fine for years. The product is the afterwards.
