Smash vs TransferNow
Smash and TransferNow, compared by what happens after the link exists.

People ask this as if one of them cheated. They didn’t. Smash and TransferNow grew up answering different complaints.
Smash
Smash, from the French team at fromsmash.com, sells the idea of no size cap. The catch is the queue.
The upload is a minute. The afterwards is the product.
Free transfers over about 2 GB wait their turn. Links on the free side are short, on the order of a week. You can start without an account.
If you refuse to think about file size, the pitch is emotionally correct. A wedding gallery should not be a math problem.
The annoying part: A queue is still a queue. The person waiting on a deadline does not feel the romance of “unlimited” while the bar sits there.
TransferNow
TransferNow is the French service that wants both sides: you send, and you can also receive, without turning the other person into a subscriber.
The free transfer is about 5 GB and about a week. They advertise a password without an account.
Receiving files without making the client invent a login is a kinder product decision than most drives make.
The annoying part: Five gigabytes free is ordinary now. The interesting product is the paid one, and then you are comparing prices with everyone else.
Side by side
| Smash | TransferNow | |
|---|---|---|
| Free size | No hard cap; queue after ~2 GB | 5 GB |
| Free expiry | About 7 days | About 7 days |
| Account to send | No | No |
| Password | Yes | Yes, even free |
| The top end | Pro skips the queue | About 250 GB on Premium |
Which one, then
Open Smash when your files are huge, you can tolerate a wait, and you like that the product was built as a direct answer to WeTransfer’s cap. Open TransferNow when you need a public “send me the files” link as much as you need to send.
If both have started to feel like a membership, the smaller idea is a transfer that ends. Pink Jeepney’s free ride is 2 GB and 7 days. The paid plans are 25 GB, 100 GB, and 250 GB. That is a third afterwards, not a verdict on the first two.
